Latency is in measures, so everyone stays in sync: you hear others’ previous interval while they hear yours.
What is NINJAM?
Open source · Any instrument · Interval-based
NINJAM is open source (GPL-2.0) software for making real music together over the internet. It works with any instrument or combination of instruments—voice, piano, guitar, whatever your computer can record. Because internet latency makes true real-time sync impossible, NINJAM uses intervals (measures): you play along with everyone else’s previous interval, and they hear yours the same way. Audio is compressed with OGG Vorbis and streamed through a NINJAM server.
